I assume those public interest groups wouldn't have concluded by then so we may not get a definitive answer from Toyota about the TJ Cruiser. Maybe more close look videos if they do bring the concept vehicle along.
Unfortunately I live nowhere close to LA and the trip won't be worth the cost to me. If anyone does go, have at the folding seats and all the storage compartments. That's one of the TJ's main selling points. Maybe they even kept the exterior power plug.
Still not sure if I'll be able to go or not... I'll probably let you know somewhere at the end of this month...
Anyways, if I'll finally make it go there it would be nice to get early open tickets. Do you know if there will be a chance to see what cars are going to be there? Cause I don't really want to go there if they won't present TJ.
Media Days are about 2 days before the public days so if it shows up odds are we will see pictures of it online. LA is a big show, probably one of the runner up's to the Detroit show, so Toyota can find a lot of value in having the TJ here as well
Well, there is a scheduled presser on the 30 th, but I am hoping as you are that there will be some prep photos which would show it being there.
Still it would be nice to know further ahead of that so I can still get cheap air fare.
There may be at the door tickets as well, or online purchases the day of. I'll be keeping my eye on the internet to see if Toyota mentions anything new about the TJ Cruiser. Now would be a good time for them to come out with more models to move more units because of the weaker yen.
This is the response I got from Ask Toyota regarding the LA Show....
"Dear Sean,
Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.
We appreciate your interest in the Toyota TJ Cruiser.
The TJ Crusier is a concept vehicle that was presented at the Tokyo Auto Show.
We are sorry, we do not have any information available if this concept vehicle will be at the L.A. Auto Show.
There is no guarantee that concepts or prototypes will make it to production. Often different design ideas from concept vehicles may be incorporated into an existing vehicle, or into a new vehicle.
We certainly appreciate your inquiry and interest. You can sign up for the latest updates with our RSS Feed and/or receive email alerts when new information is posted in the Toyota USA Newsroom.
Your email has been documented at our National Headquarters. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us.
Nah... I'm not interested in FT-AC. I might change my mind if we will get any photos of it before the show starts, cause as for now it's not the type of vehicle that I'm looking for.
Now I am considering driving over , spending the night, see the show the next day, then drive home. I am really craving a road trip. Wish I could make up my mind....lol
Oh there is a show in Phoenix this weekend, but it looks like nothing promising will be there.
Doubt there will be all that many reveals, if any, at Phoenix with a larger show so close to it.
The suspense is killing me and so is Toyota's plants for these concepts! The LA auto show cannot come fast enough though I can't justify a trip there just to see the FT-AC concept.
I'm sure a lot of people will be taking pictures of it and publications will be all over the possible FJ cruiser successor.
I didn't buy tickets yet, but I did book a hotel nearby for December 4th. I would see the show the next day. I may change my mind if the reveal on the 30th is disappointing.
If only I was close enough to the event, but alas I'll be waiting for publications to grille the toyota representatives when they debut the new concept on press days.
I really want to see it before the LA Show, but I don't think that Toyota will do it, especially with only 5 days left before the event. Did Infiniti present photos of the new QX50 in the internet or they unveil it at one of the car shows in person?
That leak is almost a normal thing that takes place in the industry these days, if anything it does them a lot of good as it drums up hype. See it as the trailer to a movie before the actual thing comes out.
If by leak, you mean something not authorized by the car company, I don't think it was that. I think it was, as you say, something to build buzz.
I will tell you guys a funny story about being part of breaking a press embargo on an new model. Actually, someone in the press was responsible for blabbing the pricing and I just reported what he said in a group such as this. My screen name subsequently appeared in many press articles as a source for this info. I was famous for a while. LOL.
In cases like this , a reporter can be punished for breaking an embargo and banned from any manufacturer press function. The culprit quickly removed his tweet about it. I don't know if he was punished or not.
Here is an excerpt from an article and a link to the whole article. Earlier articles had me as the source.
"Pricing for the iM was revealed by Scion iM Forum member bicepeak, who later explained the information came from a since-deleted tweet by Autoweek‘s Mark Vaughn; Vaughn was attending a Scion School event involving the hatchback and iA sedan. A following photo from iMTaylor — possibly from Vaughn’s Twitter account, as well — noted pricing was to be embargoed until one minute past midnight Eastern June 29, along with driving impressions."
So who's going to be watching the reveal at 9 am LA time, Thursday? I have an appointment so probably will miss it. But I will be watching replays as soon as I can!
Tell me about it, noticed for myself that eventually you see so much that seeing it in person makes almost no difference. The only real difference will be once a demo's we can test drive start showing up at dealerships.
