Roof racks are already strong enough to hold that weight and given how easily it will take up the roof, proper weight distribution is inevitable. Plus these tent setups are very basic, just area to sleep, get shelter and do some other very basic things.

I mean, that's essentially all you'll be using the tent for, sleep right? Wouldn't be cooking up in there and need pots of water or anything. Maybe just a lamp, you, pillows and blankets.

Is there anything else people would typically have in tents...?
